Anchor Lake is a qualified Stewardship Forest with the State of Michigan’s Forest Stewardship Program. This program encourages conservation and environmentally conscious land management practices by giving property owners tax breaks for sustainably managing their wilderness forests.
Anchor Lake has a conservation easement held by the HeadWaters Land Conservancy. Land conservancies preserve land for future generations, protecting our food and water supply, purifying our air, providing wildlife habitat, and strengthening communities. HeadWaters inspects our property annually to make sure we’re honoring the terms of our conservation easement.
Our environmental efforts are also supported by the Montmorency County Conservation Club, who purchased old wood from us, built bluebird houses with it, and installed them on our land.
